Study group scheduler
Study groups fall apart when the first meeting cannot be scheduled. Students have fixed lectures and part-time jobs, so the way to find a slot is to let everyone mark every time they can make.
Find the weekly slot
- Offer 4 to 6 slots across the week, including an evening and a weekend option.
- Ask everyone to tick every slot they can make. Pick the slot with the most ticks and check the people it excludes; if one or two are shut out, a second poll with slots near it often fixes that.
Run the sessions well
- Poll the topic for each session with a ranked vote so the most-wanted topic goes first.
- Keep a short list of rotating roles (who explains, who quizzes).
- Re-run the time poll at the start of each term when timetables change.
Tips for teachers and tutors
- For a class vote on a deadline or project topic, a quick poll with a closing time gives you a clear result and no email chain.
- Anonymous voting helps when students might not want to be named.
